When Aaron and Candy Spelling built their famed 125 room 56,500 square foot French-style chateau in the Holmsby Hills area of Los Angeles in 1988, it was aptly decorated with the finest collections of European antiques, furnishings, chandeliers, and wonderful objects from the world of dolls, automata and childhood. This year, the splendid Spelling chateau was sold, and now, on Saturday and Sunday, November 19 and 20, their magnificent collection of dolls and automata will come to auction in the splendid Louis XVI rooms at the historic Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York.In addition to Spelling's dolls and automata, this two-day auction will feature dolls from other private estates including Jeanne Dailey of Milford Center, Ohio, the Käthe Kruse dolls of a private collector from the Netherlands, and two private collections of rare Lenci dolls.
